Meeting our equipment supplier

Pyrolysis technology provider at a trade fair

6/11/20261 min read

Together with our biomass feedstock partner we recently had the pleasure to catch up with our designated supplier for the pyrolysis equipment. We talked about the full engineering picture and worked out some small final details of our desired set up. As can been seen from the diagram this is the flow, step by step:

🔸 Biomass fuel (residual wood chips) is fed into a silo and transported via a belt conveyor into the kiln's feeding device.
🔥 Inside the rotary kiln carbonization furnace, biomass is heated in a low-oxygen environment — a process called
pyrolysis. No combustion, just controlled thermal breakdown.
♻️ The syngas produced during pyrolysis is captured and fed back into the dual fuel burner, which powers the adiabatic combustion chamber beneath the kiln — making the process largely self-fueling.
💨 Hot exhaust gases pass through a waste heat boiler (recovering energy) before being drawn out by an induced draft fan and vented safely through the chimney.
❄️ The
biochar output travels through a water jacket cooling screw conveyor, bringing it down to a safe handling temperature before collection. A dedicated cooling tower, water tank, and circulating pump keep the cooling loop running continuously.
